Adding your Calendar Events to the PSEC Website
I try to update the calendar whenever I get requests, but translating an email to the website can be a time consuming process. I’m hoping to get an event submission form up on the site at this URL sometime this year which should greatly increase my efficiency, In the meantime, here are few suggestions that will increase your chances of getting a timely update:
- Consider bypassing the website completely and using the PSEC mail list. Get yourself on the mailing list if you aren't already and then simply mail an announcement to psec_reps@yahoogroups.com. The announcement will go out to everyone on the list immediately.
- Use a calendar program like Outlook to create the event. Most scheduling programs allow you to invite someone by entering an email address. Fill out the calendar form as fully as possible. Enter extra information into the body portion of the form and (very important) make sure the meeting subject contains your society name and a descriptive name. For example, a good subject for a PSEC meeting would look something like “[PSEC] Monthly Meeting on August 29th”. Put in the webmaster address (see the bottom of this page) as the invitee and send it.
- If you can't use a scheduling program like Outlook, send me an email. I know it is easiest to just attach a flier that you may have already prepared, but it takes me more time to translate to the web. Here is an example of a calendar submission that I can get up on the site very quickly.
To: webmaster@example.org From: stand@example.com Subject: [IEEE] Monthly Computer Society Meeting, September 15 Stan, Please put this calendar event on the PSEC site as soon as possible. You get the idea.
Regardless of how you get your event to me, make sure you check the Calendar to make sure your event gets posted and posted correctly. If it isn't there yet, shoot me an email to remind me. Squeaky wheel and all...
