Current Recipient

2008 Ken Porter Engineering Educator of the Year, Stan Baber2006 PSEEC Education Engineer of the Year Recipient

Stan Baber, who represented the Institute of Environmental Scientists at PSEC for many years, has an outstanding record of service to primary and secondary school education, gained over fifteen years, as a member of PSEEC's Engineering and Science Resource Bureau.

As the area representative of Future Scientists and Engineers of America he helped to organize the Science and Math programs in the Lake Tapps, Puyallup and Sumner School Districts and obtained equipment and grants for innovative environmental education programs that he helped to set up for young students there.

He has enthusiastically supported the S.A.E. World in Motion classroom program from its introduction to this area, and taught its scientific principles in many schools in the Puget Sound region. He also supported Science Olympiad for many years as mentor and judge in competitive events.

As a Boeing Retiree Volunteer he helped to obtain Bluebill office space and mailing services for the E.S.R.B. and still continues to support booths at our Annual PSEC Engineers Fair and was chiefly responsible for providing games and challenges at the PSEC South Fairs. He has been honored by the Boeing Bluebills as Volunteer-of-the-Year for his services to education.

Stan became a Docent at Seattle's Museum of Flight several years ago and still teaches young attendees about Principles of Flight every Thursday on their field trip visits. He epitomizes what it means to be a scientist-teacher in the very best sense of the word.
